I hate those big resorts, I'd rather be in a nice bungalow far away from crowded pools

Been to most of the Caribbean Islands. You left out one of the most beautiful of them all though. St. Lucia! I lived there couple of years and really recommend it. Trouble with all in hotels in glamour spots they are often in not too desirable places. I.e Jamaica? Means you usually end up staying all day every day in the hotel.
