1. Chicago

Chicago Being a girl from the Midwest, and a girl who can get to Chicago in a few hours, Chicago is always on my list to visit during the fall. It’s the perfect destination if you’re looking for a big city, plus it offers a typical Midwest fall. Whether you’re looking to visit Chicago, or simply want one of the best fall vacations, Chicago is a must.

2. New York City

New York City I’m not sure if it’s the fact that most movies that take place in New York do so in the fall, or simply the fact that New York is beautiful no matter the time of year, but there’s something so magical about New York in the fall. If you’re on the east coast looking for a quick getaway, or just want to visit Central Park, fall is the best time to do so. It’s not too hot or too cold, making it the perfect weather for walking and exploring!

3. Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan Michigan has really gained a lot of attention lately for its beautiful summers, thanks to the Pure Michigan advertisements. What those advertisements aren’t saying, though, is just how beautiful Michigan is in the fall, whether you’re checking out Northern Michigan or not. While Michigan does have its big cities, if you’re looking for a remote getaway, Northern Michigan is the place to be!

4. Napa Valley

Napa Valley Napa Valley is known for its wineries, but imagine visiting one of their legendary wineries, sipping wine, and enjoying the fall weather and foliage. It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which you would lose, so if you’re looking for a vacation with a little (or a lot) of wine involved this fall, check out Napa Valley!

5. Try a Stay-Cation

Try a Stay-Cation Chances are that no matter where you live, you have a gorgeous fall close by. Even if your hometown doesn’t offer a wonderful fall, there’s probably one just a short drive away. Although it’s not technically a stay-cation, you are saving a ton of money by driving somewhere nearby rather than pay for airfare and every other frivolous expense!

6. Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia Savannah is an absolutely gorgeous city on its own, but during the fall it takes on a whole new beauty. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a little bit of “haunted” fun with your kids, or simply want to explore the beautiful city Georgia has to offer, Savannah is definitely not one to miss!

7. North Carolina

North Carolina Blame it on the copious amounts of Nicholas Sparks books I read during my teenage years, but there’s always been a part of me that’s wanted to go to North Carolina. It has gorgeous beaches and a ton of summer towns, but I’d love to see them in the fall as well!

Savannah has a ton of festivals that start in September and continue through the end of Fall. We just had a craft brew beer festival this weekend to kick off the season!

@Happyash - Montreat, North Carolina. It's a Presbyterian conference center, and is about 20 minutes from Asheville.
