If you are dreaming of turquoise oceans, palm trees, and beaches, visiting the islands in Tahiti will make your dreams come true.

The Tahitian islands are located in the South Pacific Ocean, and are part of French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France.

These islands are just an eight hour plane ride from Los Angeles, but once you get there you will feel like you are in another world.

There are 118 islands in Tahiti, but you only have to explore one of them for your tropical vacation.

1. Tahiti

Tahiti

Tahiti is the main Tahitian island.

It is the largest and it is very beautiful with mountains and large waterfalls.

If you go to Tahiti, you can stay at one of the resorts and dine at fantastic restaurants.

You can also shop at the outdoor market, Le MarchΓ©, which has local crafts, vanilla, flowers, and fruit.

Of course, you can always enjoy the ocean by hanging out at the beach or snorkeling in one of the lagoons.

As fabulous as this big island is, it is only one of the many islands in Tahiti you can explore.

2. Moorea

Moorea

Moorea is also known as the Magic Island, which may be explained by its magical appearance.2

It has tall green mountains that jut out from the island.

Moorea is home to many pineapple plantations, and if you go there, you won’t want to miss out on trying their fantastic pineapple, which is incredibly sweet.

You also won’t want to miss out on a chance to swim with the dolphins, which you can do at the Moorea Dolphin Center.

3. Huahine

Huahine

Huahine is more rugged and remote than some of the other Tahitian islands.

It has 8 small villages, and life moves at a slower pace.

If you are into history or archeology, Huahine is a wonderful place to travel to, because it has pre-European temples and ancient royal sites that you can explore on archeological tours.
