Taiwan Lantern Festival, Pingxi District, Taiwan During this festival, thousands of sky lanterns light the Pingxi District’s night sky. It follows the firecracker ceremony of the Wu Miao Temple, which is also one of the most important events in Taiwan. The Tainan Yanshui Fireworks Display was originally celebrated to ward off evil and disease from that town. The lanterns are decorated with images and wishes relating to the owner.

Infiorata Di Genzano, Genzano, Italy This event is also known as the Flower Festival of Genzano and it dates back to the eighteenth century. If you ever dreamed of seeing streets made of flowers, then you shouldn’t miss this event. Participants make floral carpets that generally illustrate religious or civil reproductions of famous works of art.

Boryeong Mud Festival, Boryeong, South Korea This is an annual festival that takes place during the summer in Boryeong (a town which is 200 km south of Seoul), South Korea. First staged in 1998, it takes place over a period of around two weeks and it was first conceived as a marketing vehicle for Boryeong mud cosmetics. So, if you want to get to get the chance to get dirty in public, then you shouldn’t miss this party.

7. Pirates Week Festival, George Town, Cayman Islands

Pirates Week Festival, George Town, Cayman Islands This festival is celebrating the history of Grand Cayman, which was at one time a favorite place for pirates. For the duration of the festival the entire island is transformed into a pirate encampment and you can enjoy street dances, music, various competitions and games, sports events, a glittering parade, local food and drink, fireworks and even a pirate invasion.
