Are you looking for reasons to visit Martha's Vineyard? It may be too soon to plan a summer vacation, being still autumn. However, for Martha’s Vineyard, you might need the heads up. This place is a hotspot for summer vacation with its beaches. Back in 2014, my family and I visited the island off of Massachusetts in celebration of my birthday and graduation. We went before the summer season officially started, but we struggled to find an affordable hotel room because the place was already filling up with tourists. If you want to find a nice and affordable hotel room in Martha’s Vineyard, you should book months ahead. It is worth it.
To this day, it is still my favorite spot in the world. And that says something as I have visited 34 states and 4 countries. If I could, I would live there for the rest of my life. Even if Jaws shows up and starts terrorizing the beaches. So here are the reasons to visit Martha’s Vineyard.

1. Scenery
It’s an island and that's one of the best reasons to visit Martha's Vineyard. Based on that, it is a good bet it will be beautiful and it was when I was there. I want to go back! With the ocean, the cliffs, the beaches, and the houses, it was stunning. My best friend in the world came with my family to the island and she still yearns to go back as much as me. If you do go, please take the three-hour tour. It goes around the whole island. You’ll see everything.
2. Beaches
When I was there in late May, it was still too cold to get into the water, but that didn’t stop us from going to the beach. Since it was cold, the beaches were empty except with a few locals who were amused by our giddiness for the beach and the water. Getting off topic here, if you live near the ocean to where you see it every day, don’t take it for granted. Us inlanders only get the chance to see it every few years, if we’re lucky. Anyway, the beach was awesome even though it was Jaws’ beach (Jaws was filmed on Martha’s Vineyard). I still go to my Facebook account to look at the photos we took there.
3. The Rich and the Famous
The island is so great that even celebrities and politicians have summer homes there. In fact, there is a landing strip for their private jets on the island. My family and I planned to visit a year before we actually did, but we decided not to go because former President Obama decided to vacation the weekend we had in mind. We just didn’t want to deal with the crowds and the security. So if you visit, you might meet someone famous.

4. The Bakery
This might be a silly reason to go, but it’s definitely a perk. On the island is this place called Back Door Donuts. It is the bakery to go to. If you go a little after opening, there will be a line. Oddly, they are not known for their donuts, but for their apple fritters and cinnamon rolls. My dad, who was stuck with three females wanting to try these baked goods, got up early in the morning and dashed there before the place opened. He was the first one in and bought the fritters and cinnamon rolls fresh out of the oven. OMG! They were awesome! Please make sure to try out this place.
Get online and book a hotel soon. Knowing you will have a place to go to in the summer will help you get through the depressing winter. Enjoy!
