7 Outrageously Stunning Natural Wonders of Canada ...

Although the Northern Lights can be seen from elsewhere, I had to include them on this list of natural wonders of Canada – you know how often I have waxed lyrical about this gorgeous sight. You will have seen pictures of the Northern Lights I’m sure, but nothing can prepare you for the breathtaking beauty with which you will be confronted. Head as far north as you can in Canada to spot them most effectively; the Northwest Territories are where most observers choose to try their luck at spotting the Lights.

When you think of Canada, you probably think of maple leaves, brown bears and lots of snow. You might be surprised, then, to find some of the clearest waters set among wonderful mountains in the Canadian Rockies. Every year, millions of people from around the world flock to this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is one of Canada’s most beautiful natural landscapes.

You don’t have to be a tree enthusiast to find Cathedral Grove stunningly beautiful. Some of the trees date back as far as 800 years, and reach hundreds of feet up in the sky. The forest looks like something out of a fantasy novel, with moss-covered rocks, small waterfalls and collections of some of the biggest trees you will ever set eyes on. This is an example of understated Canadian beauty.

No list of beautiful places to visit in Canada would be complete without Niagara Falls. If you haven’t visited before, let me try to tell you what to expect. The sight, sound and spray from 168 thousand cubic feet of water tumbling and roaring over the falls every second cannot be imagined. It has to be seen. Nobody can get their head around the sheer tonnage of water and beauty which Niagara Falls has until you visit. There can be no doubt that Niagara Falls is one of the supreme natural wonders of Canada.

You might associate bears, moose and beaver with Canada, but probably not huge dinosaurs. The Dinosaur Provincial Park has been described by archeologists as the largest graveyard for dinosaurs in the world. If you are interested in archeology or any type of pre-history, check out this stunning Canadian park.

It is almost as if Canada was made for hiking. The Cabot Trail is dotted with forests, cliffs, valleys, sea and nature which will keep even the most adventurous of hikers entertained. There are almost 300km of trails to follow, looping around the north of Cape Breton. If you want to rest your feet, you can even drive along much of the trail, exploring one of Canada’s natural wonders without leaving the comfort of your vehicle.

The Group of Seven was some of Canada’s most famous painters during the 20th century. It is no coincidence that they all chose Algonquin Provincial Park as the destination for many of their paintings. The Park is so peaceful; just hire a canoe and sit in the middle of the lake for hours on end. This is the very essence of Canadian natural beauty.
