Finding ways to see more of your city can be really hard, especially when you're trying to fit it in around work or school. Even if you have already seen the tourist attractions, there are still so many tours, plays or unknown areas to visit. Hopefully, some of these ideas will help you find ways to see more of your city.

1

A Day Ticket

Every time I go into the city I get a day ticket. These limit the cost of transport and allow you to access anywhere. This also limits the amount of walking that you have to do, and makes fitting more into your day achievable. Buying your ticket at an off-peak time will also help to cut down costs. This is definitely one of the most cost efficient ways to see more of your city.

2

Museums and Art Galleries

Everyone loves a day out where they don’t have to spend any money, therefore, museums and art galleries are perfect! They enrich you culturally and historically. They also enable you to find out about your city, its past and how it has changed. Public libraries are also amazing as they look great and have some really interesting books inside. If you have to look after young children is this an ideal trip, as they can work on school projects without just using a search engine. Their teachers will definitely be impressed!

3

Book Stores

In most book stores there are sections on local knowledge. Why not have a look through and see if there is anywhere that is still the same as it used to be? If so, some research into tours and museums can lead to the second day trip and further your city knowledge.

4

Parks

You may just think a park is for having a picnic or walking a dog. However, throughout the year local musicians and festive events are usually happening in them. Even when these events aren't on, why not go on an adventure? I know that around my area there are a lot of deer and foxes in the parks. Some cool pictures can be taken in them, which will interest the more creative types. And for the non-creative types, a bit of fresh air never did anyone any harm.

5

Local Knowledge

Working in a pub can be really handy; there are loads of leaflets that tell you about events in the local area. Next time you are having a drink, see if there are any upcoming events that take your fancy.

Famous Quotes

Silence at the proper season is wisdom, and better than any speech.

Social Media

Social media is a great way to know about the area. Friends will post pictures of where they have been, and give a true opinion of it. This means that you can get an idea of new places before you have even spent any money or time on going there.

7

Inside Knowledge

It’s also handy to know someone that has lived in the area for a while. They can tell you what they really thought of a place, whereas websites can’t. Plus this person is probably more likely to know the types of places you will like.

Cities have a great atmosphere and many things to occupy you in such a small space. I am definitely going to try some of these ideas. Do you have any more ideas on seeing more of the city?
