1. Have an Open Mind

This is so vital when being in a place you have never been before, with people who speak a language that you usually wouldn’t encounter on a daily basis. Have an open mind. People are different all over the world and there are so many cultures that exist, that have their own beauty within them. If you really allow yourself to soak in all the beauty of the people, language, experiences, I’m telling you that you won’t regret it. Now, don’t get me wrong it is going to be hard, but challenge yourself. That's one of my best tips for more immersive travel experiences.

2. Eat Everything

When I say this, I mean it. I say this because the food is part of the culture and most places usually eat particular foods that are part of traditions they have. Honestly, I know it can be a bit frightening eating duck or lamb. Hint: if you go to France, then that is what you will be eating. Be adventurous. What’s the worst that can happen?

3. Pack Everything

Trust me when I say you would rather be safe than sorry. Bring clothes that you could wear for a sunny day, rainy day, and don’t forget about those beach days. Bring your camera because you want to capture every moment and I am serious when I say every moment. You want to be able to have memories from every experience you have. Pack extra shoes. When I was traveling around Europe, I didn’t realize how much walking I was going to be doing. Now, let’s just say when I got home I threw all my shoes away because they were dirty and demolished, so bring a variety.

4. Go on Adventures

I know this can get expensive so make sure you are saving money. But do everything you can in the place that you visit. From zip lining in jungles to bungee jumping off bridges or swimming with dolphins. Is that too basic for you? What about an underground dance party or going on hikes that lead to breathtaking views. Now, listen to me when I say this. You must take advantage when you are in different countries, discover the beauty that you haven’t experienced before.

5. You Can’t Be Afraid

The more confidence you have when you encounter this new adventure, the easier it will be for you to handle things when things that may not go your way, such as getting lost or communicating with locals. Ask questions, it won’t hurt. Sometimes the best adventures happen because you took the wrong turn. Be willing to adapt to change and difference. You may see things that aren’t normal to you, but remember you are in a new territory. Embrace it. Cherish it.

Good luck on your new adventure!
