Kinkaku-ji Buddhist Temple, located in Kyoto, Japan, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. The Temple of the Golden Pavilion is an ornate three-story building, covered in gold leaf and surrounded by a beautiful garden. It was originally built in 1397 as a retirement villa for the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and later converted into a Buddhist temple. The temple is also home to a number of important artifacts, including a statue of the Buddhist goddess Kannon and a painting of the Amida Buddha.
