Take Your Next Vacation at One of These Tiny Hotels ...

I love the idea of tiny houses, even though I know I could never live with one, so I'm nurturing an obsession with the next best thing: tiny hotels. They allow you to stay in places you might not otherwise get to experience, they can sometimes – sometimes – be a bit cheaper. Sometimes. It depends on the location, really. You'll often find the price is worth it, however, because what these hotels lack in size, they more than make up for in design, aesthetic, and location.

1 Yotel in New York

Yotel is a tiny hotel right in Midtown Manhattan that allows you to stay right in the heart of the city without hemorrhaging money out of your bank account. Also, the front desk has a robot porter. A robot porter.

Frequently asked questions

2 Iniala Beach House in Phuket, Thailand

Staying at this hotel, it's been said, is like staying right in the center of an incredible collection of art. In fact, some of the most famous people in the design and art worlds completely reimagined the Iniala house in 2013 and expanded it, so every piece of furniture is its own work of art.

3 Rolling Huts in Winthrop, WA

The Rolling Huts in Winthrop, Washington, are modern and minimal, the creations of Tom Kundig. Though the shapes and architecture are modern, the overall feel is rustic. This is where you go when you really want to glamp.

4 Hotel Covell

Hotel Covell is in LA, located right above East LA's Bar Covell. It's a boutique hotel on a tiny scale, all Spanish design and vintage beauty. The theme of each room is a chapter dedicated to the life of George Covell, who's the namesake of the hotel even though he's entirely fictional.

5 No.5 Maddox St. in London

Even the name of this tiny hotel is charming. It's a great way to get privacy even while basking in one of the busiest neighborhoods in London. You can choose between six suites, and they're all beautiful. You'll feel positively spoiled.

6 Tcherassi Hotel in Cartagena, Colombia

As if a vacation in Cartagena, Colombia, isn't amazing enough, you can stay at the Tcherassi Hotel, a converted Colonial mansion with seven rooms, four pools, a roof deck, a restaurant, and even its own spa.

7 Mini Hotel in Hong Kong

Love shopping? Since Hong Kong's Mini Hotel is close to the city's amazing, expensive, and luxurious shopping district, you can take the money you save on your small paradise and buy something wonderful. Seriously, though, despite its classification as a capsule hotel, the Mini Hotel is too cute.

8 Casa Noble Villas in Tequila, Mexico

In the first place, you know you're going to have a good time in Tequila. In the second place, you'll get to drink a lot. In the third place, you'll fall in love with the hospitality and warmth you experience when you stay in your very own hacienda.

9 Hotel Palisade in Sydney, Australia

As if being in Australia isn't awesome enough, you know?

10 Sleepbox in Moscow, Russia

This is exactly what the name suggests … but it's pretty cool all the same.

11 TuboHotel in Tepoztlan, Mexico

The hotel rooms here are pretty much tubs. They give new meaning to “tubular,” but they're actually pretty amazing – and each tube has a view of the archeological site of Sierra del Tepozteco.

12 The POD in Singapore

The POD is the mold, really. It's minimal and sleek but still somehow posh. I mean, we're talking high thread counts and marble vanities here.

13 Topia Inn in Adams, Massachusetts

I adore the Topia Inn! You expect to say old Colonial B&Bs in Massachusetts, and you sort of get that feeling at the Topia, except that it's quirky and precious and each room boasts a theme that will make you … well, you'll forget your in Mass, actually.

14 Hicksville Trailer Palace in Joshua Tree, California

You read that correctly. What can I say? This place is infinitely charming. You stay in vintage Airstream trailers! There's also an adorable cabin. Trust me, you'll fall in love.

15 Capsule Hotel in the Hague, Netherlands

I adore the Hague – and the Capsule Hotel. It … it defies description. I want to stay in one of these pods. They're really escape pods! How cool is that?

16 The 404 in Nashville, Tennessee

First of all, I love the name of this hotel. Unlike the common error for which it's named, however, the 404 is pretty unique – it's kind of like renting an apartment and kind of like booking a hotel. You'll have to be pretty self-sufficient, but you'll also sort of get to experience what it's like to live in Nashville.

17 The Royal Street Inn in New Orleans

When I finally make it to New Orleans, I believe this is exactly where I want to stay. It is stunning. It's not a Bed and Breakfast, it's a Bed and Beverage. Yes. The French Quarter's only a block away, the R Bar is your neighborhood watering hole during your stay, and the rooms are just … man, oh man.

Would you stay in a tiny hotel? Have you? Oh my god, tell us about it! Tell ME about it!
