Are you looking for some easy ways for students to save on summer travel? It would be fair to say that one of the absolute best things about being a student is that you basically have your entire summer to enjoy yourself and do things that people in the working world don’t have the opportunity to do. Sitting pretty at the top of this list of opportunities has to be travel; the world can literally be your oyster when you are living a carefree student lifestyle! However, the only thing that stops a student from achieving their ultimate travel goals is money! Students are always having to operate on a tight budget, so here are some easy ways for students to save on summer travel.

1. Staycation
This is one of my favorite easy ways for students to save on summer travel. The easiest way to save money and work on a budget is to enjoy a staycation rather than a vacation! If you do proper research, you will find that there are plenty of fun and interesting opportunities for local and domestic travel that won’t involve an expensive plane, boat or train fare. Don’t skip on your own hometown and its nearby destinations; you would be surprised at how much fun you can have with the right people close to home!
2. National Parks
National park-based vacations are really great for a budget because entry to them is free or very inexpensive for pretty much the entire year. You could spend a little money on accommodation for the nights, or you could even go full cash saving by enjoying a camping trip instead. It might not be the most glamorous of holiday options, but it’s certainly a lot of fun and can expose you to the beauty of nature.

3. House Sitting
Why not try your hand at house sitting? There are plenty of websites online in which homeowners seek people to come and stay in their house whilst they are away, and you could use this is an opportunity to get free accommodation for a period of time in the summer! Of course, being accepted takes a little time and you will need references, but when you are approved, you will basically have eliminated the number one cost of any trip to a new place or city.
4. Travel Planner
If you are planning on doing a long trip over the summer, it nearly always pays off to go to a proper travel agent and organize your trip that way. Not only will they have experience with all the most popular and most cost-effective places to visit and stay, but they also might have insider information and industry deals available to you that you might not have seen when looking on your own at home.
