Free things to do in Las Vegas seem to be so at odds with what the city of money is all about but hey, if it means you get to see something other than the casinos and the neon excesses of The Strip, then I’m all for them. Here are 7 Awesome Free Things to Do in Las Vegas
Many of the free things to do in Las Vegas are going to be simply the amazing things to see which don’t have an entrance fee, like the Conservatory at the Wynn Hotel. Tucked just inside the main door, there’s a gorgeous and striking mosaic floor and outstanding floral displays which are changed regularly.
Fans of Rock and Roll can get an overdose of memorabilia at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. You can spend a few wee hours wandering the displays which include underwear from Madonna, leather jackets from the Ramones, motorcycles from members of Guns n’Roses and Motely Crue, autographed guitars and a whole slew of Beatles collectibles.
It’s no surprise that hotels feature heavily in the options of free things to do in Las Vegas. There is nothing standard about Las Vegas hotels and there’s certainly nothing ordinary about Circus Circus. This hotel and casino is home to the world’s largest permanent circus and is one of the most popular free shows in the city. The shows last about 10 minutes and run every half hour daily from 11am to midnight. See clowns, trapeze artists, jugglers and all manner of traditional circus acts.
All of the hotels in Las Vegas are excellent at defining their name with the decor and attractions so what else would you expect to find at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino but a flock of the pink wading birds. One of the best Las Vegas freebies for animal lovers, the Flamingo boasts an island a collection of wildlife calls home. On the land, stream and waterfalls you’ll see turtles, koi, swans, ducks and penguins.
If you’re with your man in Las Vegas, you’ll probably be glad that the Sirens of TI only lasts for 15 minutes. The show is an awesome spectacle of music, dance, acrobatics and pyrotechnics wherein a horde of scantily clad beauties battle with pirates. This most sexy and fabulous of free things to do in Las Vegas finishes with the sinking of a full sized pirate galleon.
The first and the oldest of free things to do in Las Vegas on The Strip is the man-made volcano outside the Mirage Hotel. Every night since 1989, the 54 foot high volcano has been spewing out flames and smoke as molten lava flows down the sides.
Showy, OTT and spectacular. The fanfare of light and sound that is the Water Fountain show at the Bellagio just about sums up Las Vegas, and of course it takes place in front of a giant man-made lake right on The Strip. Don’t expect anything subtle here – giant spouts shoot into the air to the strains of everything from Beethoven to the Beatles.
Whatever your initial reasons for being in Las Vegas it’s not going to disappoint. Everywhere you step on The Strip, inside and outside the hotels and casinos, there is an absolute feast for the eyes.
