15Glasgow, Glasgow

This gorgeous hotel has put some serious thought into its bedrooms. Known as the "sleep boutique," this hotel has put years of research into action whilst planning the rooms, and you’ll never want to leave. There’s underfloor heating, super king-size beds, romantic mood lighting and even duck-down feather duvets and plenty of pillows. The hotel is a listed Victorian townhouse, so you’ll get gorgeous oak paneling, stained glass and original fireplaces – along with wide-screen TVs and huge walk-in showers. Bliss. Prices average around $150 a night, with plenty of offers for better rates.

2

Artist Residence, Cornwall

Cornwall is a very popular holiday destination, and this hotel is THE place to stay! It’s on the prettiest street in Penzance, Chapel Street, and every one of the rooms has been decorated by a local artist. The eleven rooms are pulled together with a magical ambiance and feature plenty of canvases, chandeliers and quirky beds, along with gadgets and bright bedding. The oldest pub in Penzance, the Turk’s Head, is just a two minute stroll away – and there are plenty of pirate tunnels to explore, too. Rooms start at $90 for a double room, but there are just eleven rooms, so they do book up fast.

3

Big Sleep, Cardiff

This hotel was designed to provide the perfect environment for relaxing and sleeping – just what you need for a great holiday. The rooms are all large, with big windows offering a view over the city, and chic sofas, ergonomic chairs and thick rugs all over the floor. The king size bed with throws, fluffy pillows and mood lighting is oh-so-welcoming, and you are just minutes away from big Cardiff attractions such as the Millennium Stadium and St Davids’ for shopping. John Malkovich is a shareholder here, and arrived in his pajamas to advertise the hotel – so it’s no wonder plenty of celebs have been snapped here since. Average rates are around $39 a night, and booking in advance can secure an amazing discount!

4

The Calls, Leeds

Want something old-fashioned, with that British country feel? This hotel is exactly what you’ve been looking for. It started life as an 18th Century corn mill, and most of the building has been left untouched. There’s wooden beams, iron girders, and exposed girders, along with original artwork, vintage furniture and open fires. The hotel offers complimentary homemade shortbread, rooms overlooking the River Aire with complimentary fishing rods (they’ll even cook your catch, if you want) and a food menu that can’t be beaten. Every item is sourced from local farmers, and the breakfast sausage menu is to die for. It’s ideal for relaxing! Rooms cost around $110 for a large room, although rates often include wine or a complimentary meal.

5

Citizen M, London

When Citizen M first arrived, nobody was sure if it’d take off. Modeled on shipping containers, the rooms seemed quirky and maybe too unusual – but this Citizen M hotel in London is unbeatable. There’s high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and massive beds. The rooms are split into bedrooms and living areas, and there’s even mood pads – tablets very similar to iPads which control everything from the TV to the blinds, and can even order room service. There’s Apple computers for guests to use, Mario Testino photography on the walls and meeting rooms that are simply breathtaking. Being so close to London, there’s always plenty to do, too. The rooms tend to be priced around $150 per night, but you can get better rates by booking in advance, waiting for late deals or using special offers.

Hoxton Hotels, London

Sinclair Beecham (the founder of Pret a Manger) had big dreams when he launched his first hotel. He promised "comfort and style without rip-off prices" and he’s largely succeeded. The rooms are big and cozy, with fluffy throws and ornaments that make the room homely – but it’s the little extras that really set it apart. There’s fresh milk in the fridge, free water and a shop inside the hotel that sells products at everyday supermarket prices. Whether you need batteries, crisps, chocolate or magazines, you can get it without leaving the hotel. Standard rates are around $90 a night, but every 3 months there is a $1 sale, allowing you to get an unbelievable price. Just sign up for the newsletter to find out when the sale is.

7

Blackfriars, London

Want a hotel with a huge personality? The Ibis Blackfriars is the perfect choice. Staff wear a chic uniform, along with red and black converse that they are allowed to personalize, and couldn’t be friendlier. There’s big rooms, quirky menus full of food from all over the UK, and plenty of comfortable seats. The reception even as a giant iPhone device that shows information about local restaurants, theaters, bars and shops, and the TweetArt app allows you to share feedback in a really novel way – just tweet your comments and they’ll be made into art and appear on the hotel’s walls.

8

Bloc, Birmingham

The Bloc hotel was inspired by Japanese hotels, which feature capsules or "pods". This was built in the same way, with the 73 rooms dropped into place before the exterior was built. There’s a blocky feel to the outside, and a high-fashion chic feel to the inside, with Espresso machines, huge TVs and cube-seating spread around the hallways. There’s a large king-size bed, posh Italian lighting and wet-room bathrooms, and you are just a stones’ throw away from the famous Birmingham Bullring, theaters and the city center. Rooms cost around $70.

So what are you waiting for? Come and enjoy everything the UK has to offer, and stay at one of these amazing chic hotels in the UK.
