Now, here’s somewhere that’s definitely on my vacation list! Costa Rica is incredibly beautiful, peaceful and known for its amazing wildlife. Of course, you can opt for more active pursuits if you wish, but what a great place Costa Rica is for just lazing on stunning beaches.

2. Thailand

How can you go wrong with Thailand? It’s renowned for its friendly people, beautiful scenery and wonderful ancient sites. Avoid the obvious tourist traps and have a summer vacation to remember.

3. Greek Islands

If you love the heat, then the Greek Islands are a great place to visit in summer! There are so many to choose from – depending on the time you have available, you could island-hop and visit several. Enjoy the perfect beaches and clear blue waters.

4. Hawaii

Hawaii may have become a bit of a cliché, but it’s definitely worth visiting. For the dedicated beach bunny, where better to relax and get a light tan? Plus of course it’s a surfer’s paradise, and so easy to reach for many people in the US.

5. Goa

Goa is the place to head for if you want a laid-back vacation in a different culture. It may be different from the rest of India, but never loses its popularity. It’s a destination you won’t forget.

6. Venice

If you’re looking for a European destination, then what about the romantic city of Venice? We all feel as though it’s familiar, even if we haven’t actually been there, because it’s featured in so many films. Still, there’s no substitute for visiting in person!

7. Maldives

The Maldives are a popular destination for honeymooning couples, and it’s not difficult to see why. Just look at a picture of the islands and the surrounding sea, and you’ll be drooling! It’s perfect for a special holiday, and for keen divers.

8. French Riviera

Although its heyday may have passed, the French Riviera is still immensely popular as a vacation spot. Make it your summer vacation destination, and you can visit the old walled town of Antibes, stroll through Cannes, or follow in the footsteps of the artists who headed south for the wonderful light.

9. Baltic States

Now, here’s for something different! Since opening up to tourism, many people have visited these small but intriguing countries, each with their own character. The capitals are now well used to visitors and can offer everything you need.

10. New York

I end with the city that everyone has to visit at least once in their life! Even many US residents will never have seen the Big Apple in person, but it’s a must. Even if you only have a few days to spare, you can have a great mini-vacation.
