It seems that not everyone is enamored of the selfie craze. A growing number of public institutions, sporting arenas and other civic amenities are adding their names to the list of places where you cannot use your selfie stick. Before you whip out the ubiquitous extension pole, it’s best to check if it’s allowed or not. Here are some of the ever lengthening list of places where selfie sticks are banned:
1. Selfie-free Hermitage, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
The Hermitage in Amsterdam is a branch museum of the Hermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg in Russia, and most certainly one of the places where you cannot use your selfie stick. If you were thinking of taking your selfie stick to Amsterdam so your friends can see what you look like next to an Old Russian Master, forget it, for the Hermitage at the banks of the Amstel River has banned selfie sticks along with other pointy things like umbrellas. Where? Amstel 51, 1018 EJ Amsterdam, Netherlands. Opening Times 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
