It seems that the world can just not get enough of Harry Potter. The phenomenal success of the boy wizard has sprouted more merchandise than any other literary character, a multi-billion dollar movie series and the existing tribute Potterworld at Universal’s Orlando Resort.
Those of you who are just wild about Harry are going to be thrilled to hear that Universal Studios have announced plans to bring the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to their Hollywood theme park. It’s not all great news though – according to the Los Angeles Times, fans will have to wait until 2016 to be spellbound by the planned extension of the West Coast visitor attraction. If you can hang on long enough, you’ll be able to visit all those places of Potterworld we know and love including Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the Dark Forest and make a stop at Platform 9 and ¾, all bathed in glorious Golden State sunshine.
Universal’s Hollywood Potterworld is going to cost hundreds of millions of dollars and is not only seen as a game changer for the theme park industry on the West Coast, but this major boost to tourism is going to have positive repercussions for a depressed economy with an immediate requirement for 800 construction positions.
Harry Potter fans celebrate! Anyone for a butter beer?
