There are some fabulous hotels in the movies. It is probably reasonable to assume that one thing we all have in common, is that we have all, at one time or another, dreamt of being a rich and famous movie star, or even better, one of the amazing characters that they get to play! There’s nothing wrong with a bit of escapism now and then, but what if you could actually bring some of that daydreaming into the real world? 1. Beverly Wilshire Hotel – LA, USA
There are plenty of hotels to pick from in Los Angeles, but they don’t get much more iconic in film terms than the very place that was used to film Julia Roberts’ legendary scenes in Pretty Woman!
2. Headland Hotel – Cornwall, UK
Any Roald Dahl or Anjelica Huston fans should flock to this amazing seaside hotel in England, because it provided the backdrop for one of the best children’s movies of the 90s, none other than The Witches!

3. Park Hyatt – Tokyo, Japan
This is the hotel that was made famous by Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray in the iconic modern classic Lost In Translation. Did you realise that film is now 15 years old!?
4. Hotel Degli Orafi – Florence, Italy
If classic literature and period dramas are more your thing, then head to Florence and stay in this hotel. It was immortalised in film thanks to it’s prominent usage in James Ivory’s Oscar winning adaptation of A Room With A View.
5. Grand Hotel Pupp – Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic
This luxurious hotel and spa took the name Hotel Splendide in the James Bond movie Casino Royale. It was mainly used for exterior shots. The hotel also features in the Queen Latifah movie, The Last Holiday and its design inspired Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel

6. The Ritz – London, UK
Not that you need a further reason to stay in the Ritz, but you might be interested to know that lots of important scenes were filmed there for the rom com Notting Hill. Another Julia Roberts classic!
7. Mountain Lake Lodge – Virginia, USA
The Mountain Lake Lodge was the filming setting for none other than Dirty Dancing. You can visit and pretty much retrace the steps of the characters in that legendary movie!
8. Taj Lake Palace Hotel - Udaipur, India
This award-winning hotel on Lake Pichola is fondly remembered as the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The actual building dates back to 1746 and is in reality far more luxurious than depicted in the movie.
9. Waldorf Astoria – New York, USA
You are more likely to find J-Lo staying in the grand art deco hotel than being a domestic as she was in Maid in Manhattan. A favourite among film producers, it also featured in The Royal Tenenbaums, Analyze This, and Catch Me if You Can.
