7 Best Travel Apps for the IPhone ...

I use my iPhone for almost everything, far more than just making phone calls. There are apps on my iPhone that can do anything, from teaching me to play the pan flute, translating a menu, and booking a flight. I especially love travel apps, and have dozens of them on my iPhone. But there are a few that are my very favorites, and I’d love to share them with you! Here are the 7 best travel apps for the iPhone, or at least the ones I like best!

1. Time Shutter – San Francisco

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Price: FREE at itunes.apple.com
Explore San Francisco in both the present and the past with this amazing, super-cool app. The app is loaded with photos and information of hundreds of locales, allowing you to see what they looked like a hundred years ago, and compare that to how they look now. It’s so much fun, and so informative… a must-have for any history buff, or anyone who just loves the city. I can’t wait for the Detroit version!

2. FotoPedia PRO

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Price: $4.99 at itunes.apple.com
There are currently 58 majestic, beautiful national parks here in the States, and this app allows you to tour them all, no matter where you are. The app is loaded with more than 3,000 photos, along with lots of information, even tools to help you plan your trip to the park you love best!

3. KAYAK Flight & Hotel Search

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Price: FREE at itunes.apple.com
Search one and DONE! I love that tagline, and it’s so true… and now you can search one app, anywhere and at anytime, even on the go, to find flights, hotels, and rental cars all over the world. You can also track flights and see your itinerary. The app is free, and priceless for travelers, too.

4. Rest Area App

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Price: $0.99 at itunes.apple.com
Are you planning a long road trip? Then you absolutely must have this handy little app. Based on your current location or your planned route, you can find the nearest rest area, and find out which amenities it has. I use this one all the time.

5. Southwest Airlines

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Price: FREE at itunes.apple.com
I always fly Southwest Airlines when possible, and I use this app to search for, book, and check in for every flight. I can also see my Rapid Rewards account… how convenient! I can also see and book the latest DING! Deals…

6. GasBuddy

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Price: FREE at itunes.apple.com
Are you tired of driving all over town to find the cheapest gas prices? This super-handy free app uses GPS to tell you where the gas stations are, and how much they’re currently charging per gallon. I use this one constantly, and, because it’s user-updated, I often post gas prices when I see a change.

7. Travelocity

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Price: FREE at itunes.apple.com
For those rare occasions when I don’t book travel through Southwest Airlines, I use Travelocity, and now I use their handy app. I use it to search for flights and hotels, but I mostly use it for travel information and reviews. Not all of the information is shared with Kayak, so I usually check here first, and if I can’t find what I need, then I’ll go to Kayak. This app is free, too, so why not give it a go?

Of all the tens of thousands of travel apps available for the iPhone, those are the ones I love best, and I use them all the time! Which of these iPhone travel apps do you like best, or is there another one you prefer? Please share!
