What do the 18 candles & 18 roses supposed to give a speech about the Débutante?

Okay so my Debut is coming up (july 10) and i’m confuse on what the 18 girls are supposed to give a speech about. Also if i’m supposed to say something bout my 18 guys or what they say about me. Can someone explain to me the the traditional way? and a modern way?
well i didn’t know there was such thing? and i only posted on here was because i didn’t where else to ask, and everyone that i ask don’t really know the traditional way, and google doesn’t really help.
