9 Beautiful Cities Everyone Should Visit at Least Once in Their Lifetime ...

After years of travelling (and dreaming) I have developed a list of beautiful cities everyone should visit. Some of these places are cities I never would have dreamed of landing in, but somehow I did. Others are cities I had always dreamed of and they didn’t fail to meet my expectations! If you do get the chance to fly off somewhere, I personally feel that the following list of beautiful cities everyone should visit can drive some inspiration.

Accra

Accra In 2012 I went volunteering and didn’t really expect to fall in love with the place I visited. In fact, out of all the beautiful cities everyone should visit, this is one of my most surprising favorites. Accra is the capital of Ghana. It is ridiculously busy, the sand on the beach is glaringly white, and the people are friendlier than anywhere I have ever been. Fortunately, the accommodation is so diverse and affordable that almost anybody can go there. If you do get the chance to go, give Makola Market a visit!

2

Paris

Paris I went to Paris as a child, came back and watched a few cheesy films, and promptly fell in love with the place. When I did revisit as an adult, it totally blew me away. Contrary to popular belief, Parisians are not at all rude! Budget boutique stores lie side-by-side with the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, which is quite a heady sight and shopping experience. If you are prepared to wander off into winding streets, you can almost avoid touristy Parisian prices entirely.

3

London

London I know there is a little bias here as I am British, but I really do believe everyone should visit London. One, you get to hang outside the queen’s house and see the guards do their thing every so often. Two, there are beautiful palaces scattered across the greater London area, including Hampton Court — which was home to the Tudors and Georgians. Three, an area called Covent Garden feels magical no matter what time of year it is, but is extra-spectacular at Christmas. Providing you avoid the northern line of the tube during rush hour, even public transport is bearable here!

4

Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City As a city that once stood at the center of a tragic war, Ho Chi Minh is somehow remarkably beautiful. Like Accra, it is incredibly friendly, but with an extra dose of hectic. There are no laws when it comes to the road out there, so it isn’t for the faint hearted! However, from Ho Chi Minh you can explore some of Asia’s greatest architecture and naturally beautiful areas. Every so often, you catch glimpses of French colonial history alongside dazzling Vietnamese culture.

5

San Francisco

San Francisco San Francisco feels like a spectacularly spontaneous place, at least to an outsider! As a history lover, I thrive on cities that have retained monuments and landmarks. When in Britain I love the palaces, when in the U.S. it is the architectural and engineering feats. To me, both Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge are spectacular — if not a little daunting at times! I also love how hilly the place is, even if they do make me feel a little dizzy to look at.

Rio De Janeiro

Rio De Janeiro Even though I LOVED the Olympics in my home country, I am absolutely sure they will be much more spectacular in Brazil. This is one of the places I dream of visiting, but there are good reasons for this. I am a massive fan of carnival and I only get to see that once a year in the form of the Notting Hill Carnival. In Rio de Janeiro, it is a part of the culture, and that becomes quite apparent at certain times of year. When the 2016 Olympics do come around, I am sure it will be one of the most spectacular cultural events the world will have the privilege of seeing.

7

Rome

Rome Areas of Rome are so old and narrow that the underground system cannot reach them. Weirdly, cars line the roads from years gone by after owners decided to just leave them there. Roman, Renaissance, and medieval architecture all nestle next to each other, leaving you feeling as though you have entered another world. The only down side to Rome, in my opinion, is the prices. No drink feels very casual there, as they can get quite pricey! Still, when you taste authentic Italian pizza, you soon forget about that.

8

Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh Okay, so this is a slightly contentious option when you consider how Egypt has been during 2013. However, like many countries that go through revolutions, it is going to come into its own again and will be safe for us to visit. Sharm el Sheikh is THE perfect platform for exploring pyramids, tombs, and other Ancient Egyptian relics. Within the city itself are shisha bars, boutique shops, and a handful of flea markets. This is another place I have dreamed of visiting, mainly because so many of my friends have spoken highly of it!

9

Dubai

Dubai Last, but not least, the oh-so-opulent Dubai. Dubai is home to the world’s tallest hotel, largest mall, and even seven star accommodation! As a country built on the oil industry, it has incredibly low taxes, making it a great place to stock up on designer goods. Unfortunately, Dubai is no budget destination. However, it is a great place to spend a trip of a lifetime!

In my head I have visited far more places than in reality. So far, nowhere I have dreamed about has failed to meet my expectations! Over the course of my lifetime, I am hoping I can visit all of the world’s continents. If you could go anywhere, where would it be?
