- Stay away from this company. I don't know where to begin to tell this story. First I picked up a free vacation drawing at a local restaurant. A couple of days later I got a call from 5th ave. vacations telling me I had won a 4 night vacation in the Bahamas. First there were only handling fees, then port fees. This was scheduled by me 6 months out. I never got any confirmation until I called a month later, I was told I would get a hotel voucher and a ship boarding pass a month before departure. It was 26 days before I talked to Jason Gomez and then I called him, he did not call me. He told me at that time the trip I requested was booked and he could not get us (4 people) on the dates selected. After much discussion for more money he talked me into booking an additional two days. This is now getting pricey and he told me he needed $400.00 for the additional days for all of us plus more entry fees. Now I am way beyond what it would have cost to book the trip myself at a hotel on the beach.
Next I got a voucher for dates for the hotel that did not match the dates for the cruise. I had to talk to the general manager to get this straightened out.
Next we were assigned upper and lower bunk beds. I had to buy two upgrades on the ship since I am 70 years old and have a torn rotator cuff. Bunk beds were never mentioned.
This ship is a converted shuttle automobile carrier. On the trip over the main elevators did not work. There were I think 4 small ones that held three people. I cannot complain about the food.
Next the Bell Channel Inn is an older hotel away from everything. If you walk to the market place it takes you about 30 minutes . Nothing to do there unless you snorkel, or dive. All activities are by cab or bus and there are very few of them.
As earlier stated I could have booked a much nicer hotel on the beach and a cabin suite cheaper that I paid for with this company and would not have had to go through the pain of this vacation.
If you see vouchers in a restaurant or anywhere else for this trip run like the wind.
This trip left such a bad taste for me I will never go back to the Bahamas.
With this kind of deception, I honestly no not understand why this company is not shut down.
