7 Fun Places to Travel ...

I can think of many fun places to go around the world. Some of them might only seem fun to me, but I bet a lot of people would enjoy the 7 fun places to travel I’ve listed below. I hope to get to see all of them at some point in my life. If not, I can always trust in National Geographic to do a fine job of creating amazing videos and filling books with tons of glorious photos from each of these places.

Venice

A city built on more than 300 islands and with 150 canals to explore, who wouldn’t have a good time? I’ve always been enthralled by the romance that ensues from just the idea of Venice. A gondola ride in the moonlight would be fantastically relaxing and possibly somewhat romantic if taken with the right person.

Sydney

Since I was a child I’ve drawn pictures of the Sydney Opera House. When I was little I didn’t know what this massive and very intriguing-looking structure was. This isn’t the only thing worth seeing in Sydney. This city is filled with cultural activities, amazing cuisine, excellent shopping, and some of the friendliest folks around. I recently spent time with a group of Australians that hailed from Sydney and they were so sweet, as well as loads of fun!

Machu Picchu

As one of the 7 wonders of the world, I think everyone should try to visit Machu Picchu. This Inca style collection of buildings was built around AD 1400 and is highly regarded by both locals and tourists. If you want to visit this amazing site, you’ll have to hike the Inca Trail to get there. Seeing the lush country of Peru would be fantastic even if you didn’t get to visit Machu Picchu.

Egypt

The pyramids of Egypt are plentiful and have been a topic of interest for decades. They are so mysterious, despite all the exploration that has taken place within them. If pyramids aren’t your cup of tea, then Egypt offers a number of other activities you can enjoy, such as golfing, birding, scuba diving, fishing, or trekking across the desert.

Fiji Islands

Formed by volcanoes millions of years ago, the Fiji Islands have attracted tourists from all over the world. The crystal clear azure waters create a breathtaking backdrop for the dark green palm trees and white beaches. I think I’d be perfectly content to lie on the beach under a palm tree for at least a week! The Fiji Islands are looking pretty darn good after all the snow and ice I’ve been putting up with.

Somewhere on the Arctic Circle

My son and I used to lay in the back yard and watch the neon green Northern Lights when we lived in Wisconsin. I hear the light show on the Arctic Circle is ten times better. I’d love to travel that far north and enjoy a night under the Aurora Borealis. Maybe I’d see some other sites as well, but I’d be perfectly content if all I got to see were bright colors swirling about in the night sky.

The Great Barrier Reef

You don’t have to be a certified scuba diver to reap the visual benefits the Great Barrier Reef is able to provide. Snorkeling, swimming, taking a tour in a boat, or visiting one of the many nearby attractions on land are other options for visitors. There is the Mareeba Heritage Museum, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, or markets to check out too.

If someone offered you an all-expense paid trip to anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go?
